Universitas Medan Area organized a Cultural Exhibition with the theme “Heritage of Sumatera Utara Ethnic Archipelago” at the Universitas Medan Area Gallery. This exhibition brings a valuable collection of various Indonesian cultures, especially in Sumatera Utara. The event organized by the green campus center of Universitas Medan Area became one of the important events this year because it was done for the first time at Universitas Medan Area.
The 3-day exhibition features various cultural collections representing various cultures in Sumatera Utara such as Batak Toba, Batak Simalungun, Batak Karo, Malay, Nias and Mandailing. Starting from traditional clothes, miniature traditional houses, paintings, handicrafts, musical instruments, typical food, to other ethnic works, all of which are exhibited with the aim of promoting and preserving the nation’s cultural heritage.
“With this exhibition, we want to provide opportunities for Universitas Medan Area students to find out more about various cultures in Indonesia, especially in Sumatera Utara,” said the Chairman of the Haji Agus Salim Education Foundation of Universitas Medan Area. “This exhibition is done not only to preserve the nation’s cultural heritage but also to promote Universitas Medan Area’s cultural gallery. We believe that by knowing and understanding other cultures, we can become more tolerant and neat people,” he continued.
“This exhibition is an opportunity for us to raise awareness about the importance of preserving Indonesian culture, especially in Sumatera Utara,” said the head of UMA’s Green Campus Center. “We hope that this event can be the beginning of various initiatives that can promote and preserve the nation’s cultural heritage.”
