The Green Campus Center Team (PKH) Universitas Medan Area (UMA) together with the UI GreenMetric Team held The 1st Assessment Meeting which was held offline at the Convention Hall of the Rectorate Building 1st floor, Campus 1, Friday (5/8/2022).
On that occasion, the Head of the UMA Green Campus Center Team, Ida Fauziah, S.Si M.Si conveyed the achievements and developments of the UMA campus in developing a sustainable campus. and pictures of facilities on the UMA campus. The activity was attended by the UI GreenMetric Team and assessor Mr. Dr. Nyoman Suwartha, S.T., M.T., M.Agr. and Mrs. Yulia Nurliani Lukito, S.T., M.Des.S.
The Chancellor of the University of Medan Area Prof. Dr. Dadan Ramdan, M.Eng. M.Sc. conveyed his gratitude to the UI GreenMetric team who had guided UMA to follow several things that had to be done in order to become a green campus in accordance with my wishes as the Chancellor of UMA towards Green Digital University 2033.
On that occasion, the Chancellor of UMA hoped for guidance and direction from Dr. Nyoman Suwartha, S.T., M.T., M.Agr. and Mrs. Yulia Nurliani Lukito, S.T., M.Des.S. so that in 2022 UMA can rise in rank. Regarding what UMA should do, the Chancellor said that he had mobilized all his staff. He explained that currently UMA has set several hectares of land for each faculty to create a green area, which can also be used for the entire academic community of each faculty.
The Chancellor of UMA added that currently UMA is ranked 27th in the National UI Greenmetric version. “This is an achievement that we should be grateful for and improve on. For the first time participating in the UI Greenmetric rankings last year from 2017 until now, UMA has entered the world ranking of 254,” he said.
UI Greenmetric is a ranking of universities around the world to contribute to a better environment. Created with a ranking pattern so that universities are encouraged to compete positively in protecting the environment, especially from climate change.
The UI GreenMetric World University Rankings has 6 methodologies used in the assessment, namely:
1. Settings and Infrastructure
2. Energy and Climate Change
3. Waste
4. Water
5. Transportation
6. Education and Research
The methodology used is to see how the efforts of a university to run a program to realize a Green Campus are reflected in a policy and implementation.
