Many countries in the world are starting to look for alternative energy sources, because as we already know, energy sources such as crude oil are non-renewable sources. One of the ways we have encountered is charcoal briquettes from coconut shells. In supporting teaching and learning process at the Medan Area University during the Covid-19 pandemic, Science and Technology Faculty students attended training in making aromatherapy charcoal briquettes with Biology Lecturer, Abdul Karim, S.Si, M.Si.
Making of briquettes is also to support 2020 GreenMetric activities. Medan Area University is very enthusiastic about participating in the UI Greenmetric Program every year.
The end result of making briquettes is an alternative fuel. Coconut shell charcoal briquettes themselves are generally used for cooking, burning stoves, burning shisa and also used for industrial roasting. This charcoal briquette has several advantages over other fuels, such as producing a high temperature which is also a Go Green Energy product
Advantages of Coconut Shell Charcoal Briquettes
- Renewable energy sources
- The resulting temperature is high
