Bananas are the most consumed commodity of Indonesian people due to a total 45% of the consumption of fruits comes from the banana. The banana is an edible fruit sold usually in the fresh produce section of the market. With the future of the banana industry in flux, University Medan Area develops a new utilization of banana peel into banana jam. One of the students from Faculty of Biology, Purwanti, as the originator of the idea has successfully processed the banana peel waste into good banana jam. She stated that for 1 kilogram of the banana peel can be producing 35 cups of banana jam. Sugar, flour, oil, and banana also added as the additional ingredients. The feature of the banana jam is produced without preservatives, so it is safe for consumption.
